Klean Strip
Very distinct and stripped back unofficial packaging re-design of Klean Strip products. The company produces all manner of solvents, thinners and removers and the clean no-nonsense typography and bright colours really help theses stand out. Amazingly this was a personal school project by designer William Kitchens from Sugar Hill, USA. This project is not associated in any way with the brand Klean Strip®.

Giovanni Pintori
These amazing adverts were created by Giovanni Pintori (1912-1999). An Italian painter and designer who in 1930 won one of two scholarships of Consorzio dell'Economia Corporativa and began to study at the ISIA in Monza. In 1936 after graduating he got offered a job working within Olivetti's advertising department in Ivrea. In 1940 he became manager of the department and in 1950 he received the Golden Palm of the Italian Federation of Advertising, the first of many design and advertising awards. In 1952 after many years of creating impressive work for Olivetti, MoMA in New York organized the exhibition Olivetti: Design in Industry, which featured much of his work. Giovanni continued to design over next decade and to win many more awards. In his later years he devoted his time to painting until his death in 1999. For more of his great work have a look at the MoMA collection.

Vanessa Beecroft
These posters / invites were created by Experimental Jetset back in 2007/8 yet they would not look out of place alongside the great Swiss designers of the 50s/60s. Experimental Jetset, are a small, independent graphic design studio based in Amsterdam, made up of Marieke Stolk, Danny van den Dungen and Erwin Brinkers. These posters were created for performance artist Vanessa Beecroft and are all based on simple ideas but are executed perfectly. For a full description of the these posters and other great print work visit the archive section on their website.

Helvetica Beer
Interesting concept by designer Sasha Kischenko from Moscow in Russia for a Swiss brewed Helvetica Beer. Check your kerning and asymmetric layouts after 6 pints of this stuff!

China Navigation Company
I love these policy posters created by Singapore based designer Gene Wang. He has taken the simple geometric forms from the Swire Group logo to create a layout that adds some visual interest to the dry subject matter of company policies. In Gene's words "The two triangles form an optical projection that represents the vision of each policy." For more of Gene's work visit his behance site.

Lamosca
I have recently discovered Lamosca a design agency that hails from Barcelona, Spain. They have a real penchant for clean Swiss typography and colourful, bold, geometric shapes. As well as producing identities and exhibition work they also create very interesting infographics that you may have come across, in publications Monocle, Wired and La Vanguardia. Definitely one worth checking out.

Ken Lo a designer that hails from Hong Kong has created this clever clock/calendar that allows you to view time and the month ahead simultaneously. Add a simple swiss inspired design and some inspirational embossed quotes and you have the beginning of a design classic, I love it.

Shin Dokho

Whilst browsing on the Cargo collective I came across the work of South Korean designer Shin Dokho. His site is definitely worth a look as he has blended some very nice minimalist swiss style design with Korean typography. He also has a broad mix of other graphic design work that shows a good background of European design sensibilities.

GF Smith Selector

Firstly I would like to apologise for the lack of posts recently, Konstruktive have been hard at work on a couple of new identities which I hope to show later this year.
First chance I have had to comment on the new GF Smith paper selector which has been doing the rounds on design blogs worldwide. SEA have created a beautifully crafted minimalist box set in yellow and metallic silver which contains 4 separate swatch sets. The silver is prevalent throughout and gives the set a classic timeless appeal. I love the design by SEA but I am not too keen on the function as I now have to browse through 4 separate books so shall be sticking with my A5 GF Smith book from 2008!

Eastside Bookshop

Mihail Mihaylov has some very interesting work on his flikr photostream including this rather nice identity for the Eastside Bookshop. The simple clean typography combined with the visual pun of two bookends as the E and the B works really well. The theme is continued on posters with simple bold graphic illustrations to get the brand across.

Vintage Porsche Posters
Whilst at work today searching for inspiration I came across these wonderful Porsche posters form the sixties and seventies on grainedit. In my opinion this really was the golden age of motor poster design; strong geometric coloured shapes and angles contrasting perfectly with strong sans serif typography. Many of these great posters were designed by Eric Strenger a native of Stuttgart that worked as a graphic designer for Porsche from 1951 to 1987.22.5.11
Edgeboard

Hampus Jageland a Swedish creative thinker now residing in Paris created this fantastic minimalist identity for Edgeboard a company based in Sydney, Australia. The identity is based on the board's special feature the edge, and the brand comes to life using the edge across a broad range of materials and applications. A simple idea that is very effective and perfectly executed. For further images of the identity and other great work check out his website.

The Studio

'Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication' says it all. A beautifully designed look book for LG products designed by London based Territory. The book named The Studio, showcases the best product design and innovations from LG European Design Studio between 2008 and 2010. The book set in Helvetica Neue is perfectly understated allowing the sophistication of the products to really shine through.

Manual

Manual is a graphic design and branding consultancy based in San Francisco, California.Their approach is always grounded in clarity, simplicity, beautifully crafted design and follow the key principles of Swiss Design. I particularly like this identity for Betrained a Spanish website for social learning. 7.3.11
Otto Treumann

Otto Treumann (1919-2001) is regarded as a major pioneer in the modernisation of graphic design in the Netherlands. His style developed through his interest and connection with the Swiss school of typography and Bauhaus, combining clear typography and usage of colour. He established a great working relationship with many industrial clients, invariably achieving innovative work in the arena where economics meets culture. Some of his most renowned work included the identity work for El Al Airlines, the 'Jaarbeurs' in Utrecht postage stamps and the Jewish Historical Museum in Amsterdam. A monograph of his work can be bought from all good retailers.

Zurich 2012

George Strouzas a design student from Athens, Greece has created this fantastic branding project of a fictional Olympic games based in Zurich, Switzerland. It is really interesting to see George's thought process and he has clearly taken all the key ingredients of Swiss design; grid, helvetica and geometric shapes to produce an interesting visual identity. I love the idea of the four sets of walking legs from each corner of the globe making up the logo. For the full Swiss experience check out George's behance.

Fad Fest

Studio Astrid Stavro based in the Balearic Islands create stripped back modern contemporary design with strong ideas that certainly have Swiss design at their foundation. I particularly like the concept work that they did for Fad Fest, an idea based on Tangrams, a Chinese puzzle made of seven geometric shapes that are put together to form a specific shape. Their website is fall of great work like this, so well worth a look.
